June Book Giveaway
Recently I wrote about the tough economics of the publishing industry and effects of high discounting on authors and illustrators (see here). I shared that I made less than £55 last year in royalties from my first book, Saving Susie-Belle and gave several examples from a recent Twitter debate of more widely published authors making what amounts to scraps from their book sales. I received interesting messages in response to my blog, and was heartened by people’s desire to support creative work; especially when, like mine, the work aims to help bring about a better world for animals.
The reality of today’s market for creative people is shocking and I’m thankful that I don’t write to make my living; I write to raise awareness of animal welfare issues and puppy farming in particular. I am forever grateful that I have a readership who help me to get my books out there, and the truth held within their pages being seen by future puppy buyers. Likewise, readers help to circulate my blogs and articles for other outlets, none of which I receive payment for and do not wish to, as it means I truly speak with an independent voice; not one leaned on by any commercial, or career-based influences. I feel privileged to be in a position to be able to do this for the dogs and will continue as long as an audience for my work exists and the cause for it remains.
So I’ve decided to run with an idea that I had a while back, a book giveaway, which I’m launching today and which I’d like your help with please. I will donate a copy of Saving One More to 10 different public libraries, chosen by 10 randomly picked people who buy a copy of Saving Susie-Belle from now until the end of June. By getting books into libraries, it really helps to reach a big readership for years to come. It’s one of the most effective ways to help the voices of all the dogs in Saving One More to be heard.
To be in with a chance of having your local library chosen, all you need to do is send me proof of purchase of a single copy of Saving Susie-Belle, bought during this month. It doesn’t matter where you buy it from, all I need to see is the receipt for you to be entered in the book giveaway draw. Your name will be entered and if selected I will send a copy of Saving One More to your favourite library.
By taking part in this book giveaway, you will be helping to educate readers for many years to come about puppy farming as library books are a fantastic way to reach many readers. If you already own a copy of Saving Susie-Belle, why not donate a new copy, (or the old one) to a library.

To be eligible for entry into the draw the purchase of Saving Susie-Belle must be made between 1-30 June 2018. Paperback, hardback and digital versions are all eligible.
