Buy My Books & Support A Small But Mighty Rescue
Since adopting Susie-Belle in 2011 and beginning to write about our life together, I’ve wanted to use my writing to help dogs like her. Dogs which experience an unbelievable amount of cruelty and neglect and which, if they’re fortunate to be rescued, show us time and again how utterly remarkable they are at forgiving humans for their failings.
I began by writing a blog – which eventually morphed into this version – and was fortunate to gain interest from a publisher and Saving Susie-Belle came out in 2014. It’s still in print which is not bad for a book of its kind and in the niche it is. I’m thankful to readers for keeping it viable in what is a tough publishing world.
Now with 4 published books on the topic of puppy farming and animal rescue, I want to do more. One reason that I opted in 2015 to indie-publish the sequel, Saving One More, was to give me more control; likewise for my first children’s book, Saving Maya, a collaborative work with illustrator Annabel Wilson.
Now, I’m finally in the position where I can do something a little bit unusual; something I hope will lead to more of my books being bought, shared, donated to libraries and being read. From now on, I will be donating all my royalties to my charitable entity, Schnauzerfest and the Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre.
I’m also reintroducing the ability to buy directly from me. So for all direct sales via my social media accounts and Schnauzerfest’s, 100% of sales will be donated. This is also made possible by Annabel Wilson kindly donating her share from sales and royalties for our book Saving Maya. Our most recent children’s book, Did Somebody Say Walk? has since publication always been a 100% fundraising project for Schnauzerfest and this continues.
For me it’s always been about using my writing and books to encourage empathy in readers, to raise awareness of the many problems dogs face in the grotesque puppy industry and I hope this helps to develop this aim further. Without the Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre trusting me to adopt Susie-Belle, I would never have written these books and I feel eternally thankful for all the kindness and good friends which she brought into my world, and that I’m able to continue her legacy in this way.
