Can You Believe This?
A couple of weeks ago we closed the Schnauzerfest 2017 fund at an astonishing final total of £26,354.02. This brings the amount of money raised in four years for dogs saved from puppy farms and bad lives just shy of £75,000. This is an achievement that everyone who supports Schnauzerfest should feel proud of. Every penny of the money people donate goes directly to the rescues we support, Schnauzerfest 2017 fundraising has all gone to Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre.
To have an idea of what this money means to a small independent rescue, here’s a message from the DBARC team,
All the DBARC team would like to congratulate all the Schnauzerfesters for an absolutely stupendously massive final total for Schnauzerfest 2017! It is quite incredible, and we know it was only achieved due to an enormous amount of effort, enthusiasm and generosity by so many people (and dogs!) in so many ways. We hope it involved a lot of fun too, and certainly those of us who joined in various aspects of Schnauzerfest all had a great time (and so did our dogs!).
It’s a dark old world sometimes, and the world of rescue is a dark place oftentimes, but we now have Schnauzerfest shining as a bright light in the world – a bright light with a cheering orange glow!! We know DBARC is beyond fortunate to have your support, and we are beyond grateful, because the funds you have raised will help us to change the lives of Schnauzers who will have known truly dark worlds. Thank you for caring enough that you freely spend your time, energy and money to help us bring these innocent little souls from their dark, deprived worlds into one where they can enjoy the light, joy and love they so deserve. That’s so very special – as of course is Schnauzerfest itself. Thank you so much.
Schnauzerfest 2017 surpassed everything any of us could have wished for. Last year we raised just over £24,000 with the help of a very generous single donation of £4000. To have not only matched last year, but exceeded it has been quite simply gobsmacking! Although, deliberately and with no small effort, I push away any thoughts about how much we will raise each year. Because any amount we raise, is worthwhile and valuable for the dogs. Right at the heart of Schnauzerfest is gratitude for every single contribution, whatever form that takes, and so every year as the money rolls in and the fund climbs I am thankful.
Another thing about Schnauzerfest 2017 that I am grateful for. It’s proved once again the strength of a truly grassroots effort to do something good for the dogs who need it most. Schnauzerfest is a hearty collaboration between thousands of people, not only in the UK but overseas, who support everything it stands for and aims to do. Which is raise money alongside raising awareness of why that money is needed. With everything we do at Schnauzerfest there’s awareness of puppy farming and the damage done to dogs in much of the breeding industry today. And this awareness, as well as fundraising, is done by a growing number of engaged people each year. For that, I am truly, deeply thankful.
