Susie-Belle’s recovery continues
We’re now 2 weeks into Susie-Belle’s 8 – 12 week house rest to give her ruptured cruciate ligament a chance to heal and repair and she’s doing very well as far as we can tell. She is in good spirits, playful in her unique Susie-Belle way, and has her usual robust appetite. She is however on strict rations as with no activity we can’t allow her weight to balloon, which it would easily do as she is such a gourmet-guts. Resisting her beautiful face however is a daily challenge for me. I’ve had the dehydrator out this week preparing some dried banana slices, she loves them and along with the low-fat dried fish skins, I think we’re keeping her tummy and taste-buds happy whilst keeping her weight down.
Last Saturday I took her along to see our wonderful homeopathic vet, Neil Coode who has given us a remedy for the next month to assist her healing, both her cruciate, but also her troublesome hips. So far, I’m pleased that she does appear to be doing well, the whole combination of this, plus good rest, diet and the cartrophen injections are all doing their bit for her.
Our other news is that preparation for the book coming out in the New Year is gearing up. I saw the photo section yesterday and it looks great, a good selection of photos have been chosen by the editor, and I think showcase Susie-Belle’s life beautifully.
I’m speaking this weekend with our local, independent bookshop to have a small launch/signing event to celebrate the book’s publication, all in all it’s now feeling very real and exciting.
And I think the cover looks great, I hope others agree.
