It’s Launched!
It’s launched! It’s launched out into the big open world of readers and critics. My latest book Saving Maya that is, in case you’re wondering!! Sunday was it’s big day. The day this project could no longer stay quiet and safe in the secure, narrow world that Annabel and I’d created for it over the past 18 months. Sunday was a busy, hectic, thrilling, manically exciting day. So many people came to the stall to collect their copies there seemed to be a constant queue.
We were both kept busy signing and Annabel took on the extra task of doodling on bookmarks to raise some extra funds for the Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre. They played perfect hosts to the launch. We joined their annual Fun Day and the atmosphere was buzzing from early morning to late evening when we left.
We sold out of all the copies we took with us by early afternoon. When we were wondering how many to take with us, we thought we were being over optmistic. To know that these books are now circulating and being read by people who may not yet know about puppy farming makes the hard work mightily worthwhile. And emotional.
Saving Maya is a book that’s come from the heart. It was a kernel of an idea when I approached Annabel to join me to do the illustrations. Seems like an age ago. Now it’s become real. It’s launched and out and we can only follow its journey through readers’ minds as feedback comes in. Thankfully early reviews are encouraging:
Just finished reading “Saving Maya” – what a fabulous book! Well done @SusieBSchnauzer and @AnnabelABW for helping to make a difference.
