Addis Helps Out
Not long ago I agreed to help with a special fundraising project that would run through National Pet Month. Addis wanted to raise money for my favourite rescue, the Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre, and the RSPCA. Their interest came from seeing the work done by DBARC for puppy farm dogs and Schnauzerfest. I jumped at the chance to help make this initiative a success. Especially knowing Addis are a great British company with a long history (over 280 years!) and good ethics.
All of this matters to me when it comes to any commercial links and fundraising. Because the dogs we support come from lives where exploiting them for commercial gain leads to great harm, I abhor any hint of it. Indeed, the last thing that should happen to them once rescued is for commercial exploitation to continue under another guise. However, it happens far too often, believe me, but that’s for another blog, another day).
So, my personal recce of Addis’s credentials complete, I was happy to support their initiative. Through sales of their RollaReleasa gadget during National Pet Month, they would make a donation to the RSPCA and DBARC. On Friday I received an email from Addis with the total sum that’s been raised. It’s an exciting amount.
It’s been agreed with the Addis rep whose brilliant idea this was, that the money will go to the In Memory of Susie-Belle Appeal. This will help to fund the building project that’s underway at DBARC. Rebuilding the rehab unit is a major undertaking for the Centre and this money is very welcome indeed.
The unit will be up and running in a few weeks time and you can read more about it here.
On behalf of everyone close to this project, Susie-Belle and Schnauzerfest, I thank Addis very much indeed for fundraising and supporting DBARC. And for playing a part in giving puppy farm dogs a voice and brighter future.
Donations to the project, in Susie-Belle’s Memory can be made here.
