SusieB loves cherries
Today I found my first reasonably priced cherries of the season. Normally I’d have eaten tonnes of them by now but they’ve been scarce and very expensive so I’ve not indulged and I’ve not been able to introduce Susie-Belle to one of my favourite fruits.
But, all that changed at lunchtime when I sat down with a large bowl full

She sat beautifully and patiently at my feet, her loving eyes fixated on me. I didn’t have the heart to continue munching without sharing so took a break and let her settle back into her bed whilst I went and researched whether they were ok for dogs. I know most fruits are, but am aware grapes aren’t so thought best to check it out before seeing whether she’d enjoy a cherry or two.
It seems that as long as they don’t eat the stones, they’re fine.

She certainly liked their smell, so I did what she wanted me to and hand fed her a fat share of stoned cherries.
Being the true gourmet she is, she declined the odd slightly underripe piece I tried to slip past her quality control centre (she can certainly quickfire spit a squashed up cherry out of her gorgeous lips a long way over my cream mat) preferring the sweetest, ripest pick of the crop.
Renae tasted a few pieces, spat them out, left them for her sister, then decided just as the last cherry was being shared between us all that she might like them after all. I shall have to go find some more tomorrow girls won’t I?

I love fruit too – I’m always begging for strawberries and raspberries when they ripen in our garden. Luckily my affenpinscher brother & sister don’t like fruit so there’s more to go round for us schnauzers 🙂 woofs and licks from Magic xx
Quality control , love it you can’t fool em. Have a nice evening.
Best wishes Molly
Lovely pictures. Cherries are loaded with healthy antioxidants like most fruit, so very good for dogs. Norbert our big guy particularly loves fruit. We are going to make a special fruit based b day cake for him this year

What a gourmet you are and with a touch of picky, like a good Terrier.

Hey Susie-Bell, Hey Renae, Jet here.
Nice to make your acquaintance on Tasty Tuesday. Oh gosh, you reminded us… Mom bought her first cherries of the season on Sunday morning. She, I mean, we need to start eating them! I love cherries, however, since JJ arrived in December, we’re not sure about her. I imagine she will like them because so far, she loves everything! Today would be a great day to try since she is having yucky stuff happen to her (stubborn ear wax issue) at the vet today.
Looking forward to getting to know you. 🙂
Oh SusieB,
You really are a foodie! Of course- who would want to eat the ones that aren’t sweet? Will you try rainier cherries next?
We’ve not tried cherries yet but we actually went with our pawrents to the cherry picking farm but had to stay in the car- we found a nice shaded spot by a water tower!

Mama loves fresh cherries so I get some ever time they are in season. So glad you has discovered them!
