Why we’re adopting Twinkle Berry
Over the past few days when people find out we’re adopting Twinkle Berry, I’ve been asked a suprising number of times why? People’s responses have varied from outright disbelief that bringing a third dog into our family is a mark of a sane personality, to wonderment as to how we think we’re going to manage looking after three, to positive support and encouragement. The doubters of my sanity tend to be non-dog owning acquaintances and I accept that for them, one or two dogs seems a burden, let alone three, but those who have surprised me are people who know us and our dogs fairly well.
They have talked about the practical side of 3 dogs, the extra cost, the travelling we do, and yes, I’ve worked through all of that myself over the past several months. It is not that I wish to have 3 dogs for the sake of 3 dogs….although a pack of 3 sounds just brilliant to me….no, it is that I want to offer another dog who has suffered cruelty and neglect, abuse and horror a home.
So, my simple answer to why, is because we can and because it’s a decent, nice thing to do. I want us to do nice things in our life together and to offer our home to a dog that has never known anything nice nor experienced kindness, is something we are in a position to do. We can and we will be loving Twinkle Berry to the very end of her days. Never will she suffer again, never will she know anything but kindness and love. She need never live in fear again. She will learn in her own time from her beautiful new sisters, Renae and Susie-Belle that life can be safe and secure, fun and comfortable. It never needs to be anything less and never will be again. That is why we are adopting a third dog.
