Our snappy, greedy crocodile is back
What a difference a week makes – as well as a tub full of medication and a handful of injections. After Friday’s trip to the vet, Susie-Belle significantly picked up over the weekend and by yesterday she was good enough to get out and enjoy our local Schnauzerfest walk (more on that topic later in the week, but for now think phenomenal funds being raised).
The walk we chose was organised by DBARC volunteer Carol and we knew we’d be amongst friends who would understand if it was too much both physically and emotionally for Susie-Belle. And me. In fact, more me than her, as she was quite happy going round the walk like this. Once she allowed herself to accept human love, she’s always enjoyed a carry around in my arms and yesterday was no exception.
Her appetite is back, thankfully, this is such a significant indicator of Susie-Belle’s well-being that we are truly happy to have her gobble up everything we offer her, and to snap at our fingers when we don’t get them out of the way quick enough. Have to say the one upside of last week’s dental is that now she’s missing a few more teeth, the snapping, greedy jaws around my fingers are less nippy, more gummy nuzzling. We’re having to rethink what treats she can now manage, her favourite hard tripe sticks are proving too much for her now, but she needn’t fear, we’ll come up with something particularly delicious for her.
So, the vet this morning was pleased with how she’s doing, we’re relieved that things appear to be stable for her at the moment and we’ll continue taking it day by day, enjoying her wonderful, gluttonous company at every meal time.
