Susie-Belle may have left this life, but she’s not left me, and never will
Last night we had to let Susie-Belle slip off into a new and peaceful world without us by her side for the next stage of her soul’s journey. She didn’t suffer at all, this we know, and are thankful that her cancer did not appear to cause her any pain.
I’ve lost the dearest little friend. She came into my life and changed it beyond anything I might have once imagined. How can a dog do this some might wonder, but she has, and her bewitching character will never be lost to me, or ever fade. We have a lot of memories, many of which I’ve spent the last four years documenting, and sharing the best of.
We speak about giving the dogs in the breeding industry their voice, we say we’re the ‘voice for the voiceless’ but really, I know that Susie-Belle came to give me mine, and through the words she’s inspired me to write, I will continue to fight for all the dogs like her who are made to suffer for human greed. Those whose stories and lives are never known beyond the cruel walls of their confinement. She came out of that world and into ours and she lit up my life, and that of thousands of others around the world; this we take comfort from at a time that is searingly painful.
