New Year’s Eve menu
Renae wasn’t very impressed by her first taste of frogs legs, Susie-Belle on the other hand made short work of hers first and then finished what Renae abandoned. She definitely has taste our foodie-Susie.
The weather today is grim, very wet and there’s a wicked cold wind howling, not a day to do much by the looks of it apart from plan and prepare our New Year’s eve feast. We were spoilt for choice in the supermarket yesterday, there was turkey, venison, goose – very tempted to have my favourite meat – rabbit a-plenty, duck, pigeon, partridge, plus the usual chicken and cuts of lamb, beef and pork. In the end we opted for something we rarely have at home, quail.
They’re sold here in packs of 10, so we have 10 little birds awaiting Michels attention. He was talking about doing a classic French quail dish involving champagne & grapes which sounds interesting. Just so long as two are set aside for Renae & Susie-Belle to crunch their way through tonight. They both had a taster just now for breakfast, the little birds are complete with heads on (not ideal for the squeamish), there are now 2 headless quails in the fridge and 2 happy schnauzers awaiting the rest.
