Scorcher
We arrived here in gorgeous south west France late Wednesday after a good drive down. Once again Renae and
Susie-Belle travelled perfectly, Rosie cat sang her little song on and off but once here, she settled in like it’s her home from home. She’s been out on the patio all day sunning herself and when it got too warm even for her she disappeared under some decking planks in the shade.
It’s been a real scorcher today, just what we all needed after the wet and cold in England this summer. We headed out for an early walk before the sun warmed up but even at 7am it was almost too stifling to walk far.
After a lazy morning under the apple tree we went off to the river at the bottom of the hill, this afternoon. We could walk it there, its a pleasant 20 minute ramble across a field but it was so hot we decided to jump in the car and whizz down the lazy way, the reading on the car temperature gauge was 41degrees, far, far too warm to walk.
Renae was given a hand getting in, she had what might best be described as a river splash, all paws out the water with as much vigour and noise as she could manage….
Then Susie-Belle showed her how it’s done, she swam like a fish and really did seem to enjoy it, walking back in again once she’d got out and shaken herself off.
We stayed a good while enjoying the refreshing cool and Renae slowly starting to at least not loathe being near water. For so many things she’s Susie-Belle’s teacher, it’s heartening to see that as far as swimming goes, she’s following her sister’s lead and whilst she’s not quite there after a few weeks here we’re sure she will be.
