Word By Word We Go
The final editing of ‘Saving Maya’ is almost at an end. It’s always an exhausting process as I scour every word and piece of punctuation, checking for errors and trying to craft the best, final version of the script that I can before it gets sent to the publisher. This time around, it’s fun to be able to share the process with Annabel whose advice and counsel I value highly, as she’s not only illustrating the book, she loves words as much as I do and, as a teacher, she knows the target audience well. Added to Annabel, we also have all the generous backers of our Kickstarter to share the creative process with.
We’re making regular updates on the Kickstarter page which are publicly viewable – check them out here – and for our backers, there are occasional additional updates that reveal the behind-the-scenes work going on to produce the book. This is a much more personal experience for me than my previous books, and I’m deeply thankful to every backer who’s provided this chance. Not only have our backers brought the book to reality in terms of the money we need – we’re fully funded for the first, enlarged, print-run – but, it’s rewarding to know so many people believe in it. And, I’m delighted to share some of the inner workings of our project, our minds and creative juggling to get the book perfect and complete in the next two weeks.
If you haven’t yet backed the project, you can do so for as little as £3 and every penny will go towards getting the book out to young readers and future puppy buyers the world over. So, please take a look at the rewards available, and if you fancy pledging support, Annabel and I will do our best to repay your trust in us by producing the best work we can.
