I know we keep complaining about the rain, but really……
….this is such a damp summer it’s the wettest that I can remember. We live in the south east of England and usually it’s one of the driest and warmest parts of the country, but even we’re getting drenched most days on our walks, so we really feel pity for those in traditionally wet counties. How do people stay happy?
But, walking with the girls this morning, I forced myself to see the beauty that’s being created by all this moisture. The ducks seemed happy and the willow trees are amazing right now. I’ve always liked this quote, found by one of my students years ago and very apt right now:
Let us permit nature to have her way. She understands her business better than we do. ~Michel de Montaigne
So we can only hope that all this greenery is what nature intends. In the park, one of Susie-Belle and Renae’s essential stopping spots are the willow trees, so many good smells under there……
A rainy day is the perfect time for a walk in the woods. ~Rachel Carson
(………not with schnauzers I’m afraid Rachel, the mud’s too horrible to deal with for this faintheart……….)
In my efforts to stop the weather affecting our walks too much, we headed over to the fields, but I had to chicken out of wading through the mud and greenery of the footpath….
Sooooooo much rain, soooooo much greenery, please can we now have a bit of sun…..just for a teeny taste of summer, please, the girls would really appreciate this now……
