Puppy Awareness Week 8-15 September
In the UK, this is the Kennel Club’s Puppy Awareness Week. This is a campaign to try to raise awareness of how to find good, healthily bred puppies and to avoid the puppy farming industry and bad breeders.
This is a nightmare business and anything we can do to promote awareness of the type of breeding practices that allows a dog like Susie-Belle to be kept for years churning out tens and tens of puppies until they’re worn out, to keep dogs in isolation or mass battery-farm-like cages or contained in concrete pens, anything that can be done to make people aware of this can only be good.
The Kennel Club has more information on their website here. And here some FAQs about their Assured Breeders Scheme which should go some little way to ensuring their scheme means something.
