Susie-Belle’s Sunday in the city
We had a different type of walk yesterday, we met friends in the big city – we went to London. This was Susie-Belle’s second trip up to the noise and excitement of the capital and wow she really shone.
There are a lot of pigeons in London, pretty tame pigeons, providing great targets in fact for Susie-Belle and Renae to chase, fortunately the city birds are more savvy than they appear and managed to escape the schnauzer charges. Failing to get a pigeon for lunch, Susie-Belle then came across a huge pond full of tasty water birds that looked like they were worth watching. If she hadn’t been on a lead, who knows what she may have nabbed herself for a snack, and seeing how swans in Britain are under the Queen’s prerogative, little Susie-Belle may have found herself in a spot of royal bother if she’d got one of those beauties!
In the run up to Christmas, Hyde Park hosts the Winter Wonderland, a festive fair with lots of stalls selling everything from mulled wine and mince pies to baubles and jewellery. The place was busy, very busy and I wasn’t sure whether we should walk through it with the girls, but they were both brilliant, Susie-Belle wasn’t fazed at all once we got going. All the feet and people around her didn’t bother her, her head came up and through the crush she trotted, to arrive at the fake pub…..
….lots of people stopped to say hello to us, a bunch of 5 miniature schnauzers drew many admiring comments and through it all, Susie-Belle shone.
We were very pleased to see how well she coped with all the different experiences, to gently push her comfort zone wider, especially when we’re with understanding friends and she has the canine comfort of their dogs, is all part of her ongoing journey to leading the fullest, happiest life we can provide her with.
This morning, she’s still snoozing peacefully, it was a satisfying, exhausting day out.
Mskes me want to cry reading this. I am so glad Susie has found you and the wonderful life you are now giving her. I just can’t get over how happy she is now and I truly feel honoured to know her xxx
Great lark in the park. Have a marvelous Monday.
Best wishes Molly
Thanks very much and Claire you’re so sweet. She brings us so much joy it’s a pleasure to share it with others, and for those like you who understand what she’s endured it’s wonderful to hear how happy she appears now from others. She really is so brave allowing us to love her and lead her along her path to happiness x
Wow what a pawsome day out for you girls in the big city! Looks like you had the best of times there with plenty of furtling and new friends to meet and birds to (think of) chasing ๐ So glad you are enjoying the good life now Susie-Belle and how brave you are to cope with all those new experiences so well – woofs and licks from Magic xx
It is really fun to bring dogs to the city and watch them enjoying the sights and smells. We are all exhausted too after New York but it was really worth it ๐
Lovely park!
Oh! Good doggies! We haven’t been brave enough to bring Georgia into the CBD. I bet she’d freak. Or maybe, I mean me ๐
I love that dogs are allowed onto public transport in the UK and Europe. No such luck for us here down under. I’ve long wanted to get Georgia onto a ferry but whether she gets on board or not depends on the captain. Which means even if we get her TO the city, we may not be able to get her back. Sucks eh.
wow! so many new smells, what more could a dog ask for??
the pigeons in our area are almost as big as chickens and fearless, but they know to fly away when we chase them!
yuki and rocket
My mum is upset that when she and dad dad went to Hyde park….. there was no mulled wine!!! She loves that stuff. Great to see you coped so well S-B…. and a group of mini schnauzers always draws attention!
