Hearts full of love

I’ve been reading a rather brilliant book by the renowned Marc Bekoff who writes intelligent, thoughtful and thought-provoking pieces looking at our relationships with others in the animal kingdom. The book I’ve recently been enjoying has the tempting title “Why Dogs Hump and Bees Get Depressed”, eye-catching to say the least. The book lives up to its interesting title as it explores scientific understandings of the emotional connections between various human and non-human members of society.

I’ve read a lot of different scientists, authors and experts in recent years who explore with open but inquisitive minds the depths of the psychological connections between dogs and humans. As I’ve read and absorbed, so my own minds’ eye has opened in ways that make me appreciate with almost incredulous wonder, the beauty of the relationships we can have with our companion animals, if only we learn to develop ourselves….not them.

When Marc Bekoff writes words like this, who can fail to be moved to explore deeply what pure magic they can share with their dogs…..
