It’s Book Launch Party Time
Today’s the day the book is officially being launched with a party and signing at our local independent bookshop, The Cobham Bookshop who kindly agreed to host it. We are delighted they agreed, not only as it’s one of our favourite independent stores, and my family are an old Cobham family who also once owned an independent shop that closed when I was a teenager, so I’m always keen to support any independents, but also because they are genuinely dog friendly; they positively welcome dogs which is also another great plus in my mind.
So, we’re heading out later this afternoon, the party is from 2pm – 4pm and there’s light snacks and drinks for everyone coming along, dogs included, and I’ll be signing copies of the book, with Susie-Belle’s help as she pawtographs alongside me. We’re expecting a good turn out of invited guests as well as local readers and seeing as we had the very exciting feature in a national newspaper yesterday, there could be even more people dropping in to buy their copies and to meet Susie-Belle in person. The Mail Weekend Magazine feature was a great surprise, although we knew in advance it was in the planning, to see it yesterday appear was pretty exciting. To have national coverage of our story, which we hope serves as an example of just what some dogs endure in the battery farming of puppies is very gratifying. Our primary motivation in writing the book was to help to raise awareness of the plight of thousands and thousands of dogs like Susie-Belle who live miserable, terrible lives, many of whom never make it out to enjoy life as she now does. The newspaper coverage certainly helps us to get that message out there.
Now we need for people to act, people to take the message on board and for the suffering to end.
But for today, we are all about enjoying the day with Susie-Belle, friends old and new, supporters and everyone who shares an interest in our story.
