We have just come back from the most brilliant week in Scotland. I decided to take the girls up there for a week on our own as Michel was working and couldn’t come and I am so glad I did it. The location was perfect for what I wanted, which was plenty of good beaches, lots of peace and quiet, a sea view from the cottage and anything else would have been a bonus. We were extremely lucky with the weather as it didn’t rain a single drop on us whilst we were out and about every day, it rained heavily at night a couple of times, but we had mild, dry walks. I won’t listen to the doomsayers again who say it always rains in Scotland.
We stayed in a tiny little fishing place, which in the past was a bustling herring fishing village but these days is rather more quiet and there was just a handful of boats in the tiny, private harbour.
This isn’t our cottage but it is the cove and little beach that was a 2 minute walk from where we were. I’d love to have a stay in the little blue house, right on the beach, no-one around, heaven for the dogs.
Our cottage for the week was up above the cove you can just spot its roof amongst this little lot here
We were about 45 minutes from Edinburgh and we visited several beaches along the coast between where we were and the capital. There was never anyone around on the beaches, which were sandy, beautiful and ideal for the dogs, especially Twinkle who needs a peaceful, stress-free life. She was so happy there it made the trip immediately worthwhile when I saw how happy she was running on the beaches.
I already knew that Susie-Belle and Renae love a beach, as they’ve been to a few now with us, but these were definitely the best we have all experienced. One of our favourites was Gullane which had some interesting rock pools all needing some schnauzer exploration……
As well as our time together on our walks, I had arranged a meet-up with a group of other schnauzers in Scotland and on our way back down south on Saturday, we met some more in Yorkshire, including our blogging friend
Magic who we were do delighted to finally meet. But, for today I’ll leave you all as this is already a lot of photos for one post, I’ll be back later in the week for more on the Scottish and Yorkshire Schnauzer Meet-ups.
